Background

The Department of Computer Science & Information Technology at Kutztown University hosts an annual Girls in Computer Science Symposium.  The Department was awarded a substantial multi-year grant to encourage incoming freshmen to enter computer science, one of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields.

One aspect of this grant was to create an event for female high school students to learn about the computer science field. The symposium is for local high schools. The goal of the Symposium is to inspire and motivate female high school students to pursue a STEM degree and enter the tech industry. The event is held in October of each year. We invite local high schools to attend. We ask local companies for their help to inspire and motivate female high school students to pursue a degree in computer science or information technology, and enter the tech industry.
